You must apply for a fire permit if you’d like to have an outdoor fire in the Town of Sexsmith.

Cost for a residential fire pit permit is $15.00.

Backyard Fire Pit Setup Requirements

The fire pit apron must be made of non-combustible material, such as:

• Stone
• Brick
• Concrete
• Asphalt

Apron Size Requirements

• For a fire pit up to 1 foot high:
  • Minimum apron width: 2 feet
• For a fire pit over 1 foot high:
  • Apron width must be at least twice the height of the fire pit

Additional Requirements

• The fire pit must have a protective screen.
• The fire pit must be located at least 10 feet away from:    
• Buildings
• Trees
• Property lines
• Overhead utility lines

Permitted Fuel

Burn clean wood products only.

Do not burn:

other domestic or commercial waste

• Household garbage
• Yard waste
• Construction debris
• Other domestic or commercial waste
