The Town invites residents and property owners to attend an informative Property Assessment Presentation hosted by our Municipal Assessor.

This presentation is an excellent opportunity to learn more about how property assessments are determined in Alberta and how they relate to your property taxes. Residents will also have the chance to ask questions and participate in a discussion following the presentation.

• The difference between Mass Appraisal (Municipal Assessor) and Fee Appraisal (Appraiser)
• What is Property Assessment in Alberta?
• The Annual Assessment Cycle and Important Dates
• Types of Assessments: the four property types, market value assessments, and regulated assessments
• Assessed Based on Use, Not Zoning (where legally permissible)
• Assessment Quality Compliance in Alberta
• How Property Taxation Relates to Property Assessment
• Common Taxation Questions and Answers
• Common Assessment Questions and Answers

The presentation is expected to run approximately one hour, followed by a question-and-answer session.
